Today, I learned many things.

One is that bags of pea gravel are heavy. Oddly, the first bag was lighter than the last ones. Really.

Two is that, no matter what you might think, you actually need ten more bags of pea gravel than you actually purchased.

Three is that landscaping stakes work really well to hold warped chain-link fences in place along the bottom.

Four is that the former owners of the Castle of Coolness believed in keeping flatware UNDER the deck. Buttons, too. And what looked like a crack pipe made out of metal bits.

Five is that big bags of weeds are heavy, too.

Six is that your neighbors will love you when you make big weedy nasty go away and replace it with tame mulchy prettiness.

Seven is that Wonder Borkitas don't make good beasts of burden. Casey is strong, but he's busy watching for coyotes or wolves, in case they develop a taste for Pet Woman.

Must go. Got to eat, go to church peeple meeting, then finish shredding my own weight in old bank statements. 24 years' worth. Yes, that's another story.

Tomorrow, I buy more pea gravel, and topsoil to fill the ankle-breaker holes in the yard. Owch.
