More Coolness for the Hoose
2004-10-30 10:14 p.m.

Spent alll daaaay at the Castle of Coolness today. Did lotsa work.

First, the bad things:

*The paint is coming off the master bath walls in long strips. It was well disguised, but I'm going to have to scrape all the walls. Good thing it's a liddle bitty bathroom.

*The hall bath is paint over wall paper! How could I have missed it? Paint ain't got no seams. Sigh. Scraaape, scraaaaape. (Help, Thjora, help!)

* Most of the repairs to the hoose have been jackleg crap. The Samurai found newspapers used to fill a wall hole! Gack!

Good things:
*The windows are now wearing new coverings, all nice and fresh. (Old, greasy, busted window treatments are GONE.) Roller blinds in the master bedroom, 'cause the Samurai likes his sleeping room *dark.* Good-quality white miniblinds in the two front bedrooms. Cool bamboo rollups in the living room--only $7 each, and they look like sushi mats! How sweet is that? (Curtains will happen later, after I set up the sewing room.)

* I spackled all de holez. All. Of. Them.

* The Samurai fixed the leaky threshold on the sliding door. Very professional lookung job, too.

* Manland's wall is half down, too. We'll get lots more light in the family room/kitchen (maybe I'll call it the "solar") without the cheesy half-ass wall.

* New front porch light looks like a happy little tea house. Totally changes the character of the hoose.

* Casey loves the deck. He lolled magisterially, woofing at squirrels. He even chased one, slowly. Our neighbor saw him over her back fence, and pantomimed "big" with her hands.

Tomorrow, I finish cleaning cabinets and doing paint prep, and the wall falls!
