After a totally delightful weekend, today was horrid.

My poor wee children are being "pretested" to death right now. This is making them wiggly, mouthy, and generally obnoxious.

Today we were also handed our official 9/11 commemorative assignment. So as not to upset the kiddos, we're doing a "tribute to the American spirit" sort of journal thing. This would be okay, except that it's a pretty transparent dodge that the kids won't buy. Eighth graders hate being patronized, and they're going to ask me why we aren't being more direct. I'll probably depart from the suggested crap to let my kids vent a bit. We'll see. If they don't want to talk, we'll just do regular class stuff.

The Samurai is watching the US Jump-rope Championships. This is actually an utterly fascinating thing, although it seems to signal a slow night for ESPN.

Must go tape weird music for the kiddos to listen to while they write, and read essays!
