Wow. What a weekend.

Friday, we finished CBC. Not much drama, apart from being told 10 minutes before the final picnic that folks were looking forward to "the program." We music folk responded with, "PROGRAM?!! WHAT program?" We ended up singing our opening songs again--no problem. I guess next year we'll do a program. It was beastly hot, anyway, so making kids line up and sing would not have been pleasant.

it's hard to type with one hand while rubbing a wonder borkita's ears with the other hand, especially when he keeps ramming your office chair, caseeey! stopit!

Also went out to the movie-n-food place with the Samurai on Friday. Saw "Inside Man", which was good. Had an odd food experience--as in, we got none. (Well, almost.) We sat there for a looong time before our order was taken, after arriving early to ensure that we got food before the movie started. I missed the beginning due to poky server standing in front of me, trying to get our order. Then we sat there, while tables all around us got food and drinks. No food for us. Not even drinks. Server studiously ignoring us. An hour into this, I went back to find our server. She couldn't remember what we'd ordered, but claimed the kitchen was slow. I sat back down for another twenty minutes, at which time she showed up with a bowl of stale popcorn and a pitcher of Coke. (for a diabetic and hypoglycemic, both of whom had purposely *not* ordered Coke!) "On the house," server says. I asked her (nicely, really!) where our actual food was, and she said the kitchen was closed since the movie was nearly over. I told (sweetly! really!) her to go get her manager. Out in the hall, the manager was baffled. The kitchen wasn't slow, but he had been dealing with complaints about our server (who had now dissolved in tears) all afternoon. He had not been able to get a rational explanation out of her. He apologized profusely and gave us a gift card for our next visit. I think next time, we'll go to the location close to our house and ask for our favorite server, a former student of mine who treats us extremely well. (I tip her hugely, too!) Still the whole deal was bizarre. I promise you all that I was a perfect lady throughout--just as reasonable and pleasant as I could possibly be. We went across the street to a fovorite restaurant for a better meal than the theater would have offered, anyway.

Yesterday, we did lots of puttering around, and the Samurai started a BLOG! It's about time! He has lots of cool stuff to say. Go see him at: http://homepage.mac.com/downz/

Look for more blog-moving to take place soon. Not sure how, where, or when, but change is coming.

Must go cook chicken with lemon and basil--yummmmmmy. I had a nice walk with Kat and little Andy-roo, and I'm hungry!
